Transition and Connection (Phase 1) examines industrial joints as metaphors for points where pressure gathers, and failure is possible. Copper’s softness allows it to bend, mark, and conduct force, shaping fragile structures that register stress rather than resist it. This phase focuses on the logic embedded in industrial joining systems and how material vulnerability functions as a generative force.

Part of this project includes 35mm photography, focusing on moments of uncertainty in everyday spaces, like wayfinding signs, instructional graphics, and transitional areas. These in-between places reflect the same tension as the sculptures.

Phase 1 was completed in November 2025 at the London Sculpture Workshop, with support from the Manitoba Arts Council and Winnipeg Arts Council.
